The 3rd Annual Trucking Symposium was held June 20th at the Four Seasons Lumiere.
Mike Card opened up the Symposium with his keynote address. Mike focused on the importance of the trucking industry and attracting new talent via improving the image of the industry and its drivers.
Next was the Roundtable of State & Federal Law Enforcement Officials. Matt Hart, CEO of the IL Trucking Association moderated the panel. Topics covered were HOS change effective July 1st, CDL Medical Merge, Data Q’s and many others.
The Natural Gas Panel include Steve Phillips, SVP of Operations at Werner, Roe East of Cummins, Don Horning form Clean Energy and Stephen Yborra from NGV America. The panel covered Natural Gas 101, infrastructure issues, engine conversion, new natural gas vehicle production, fleet perspective.
Tom Dickmeyer and J. Brad Young covered Insurance and Risk. Tom covered the market factors driving pricing & strategies to control cost. Brad covered the Experience Modification Rate and tactics to help manage frequency & severity.
Always a favorite, Dave Osiecki of the ATA covered the Washington Update. Dave related what is going on at the Capitol and where he thinks the political climate will take things.
The last presentation was Ted Perryman’s 2013 Legal Update. Ted reviewed settlements, and recent trends in trucking litigation.
Rounding out the day was the Missouri Trucking Association’s Night at the Ballpark. Carriers and vendors enjoyed the Cardinals v. Cubs in a suite. Small presentations were given by state officials.
